Let’s face it, currently finding what HiFi or high end audio gear you should be looking at for your next purchase or upgrade is….well….a bit of a pain. Manufacturer’s sites are often pretty difficult to navigate, products have crazy naming schemes, finding out what’s actually good requires a ton of googling, watching and reading reviews, and if you want to find out where to even get the thing or what other competitors are worth considering is additional time and effort.
Not to mention if you’re trying to save money then digging through hundreds of dealer sites to find who has the best deals on used items is even more time. The whole thing is so much more complicated and time consuming than it should be. And so I’m excited to announce ExtremeHifi.com!
We wanted to make discovering and exploring HiFi easier, faster, and better, and to do that we built the world’s largest database of audio products, dealers, reviews, built some crazy behind-the-scenes tools to get accurate and up to date info on used listings, product feedback, competing options to what you’re looking into, and have put a ton of useful tools all into one place to make the process of exploring and discovering gear far easier.
You can start by heading to any of the curated lists of products that match what you’re looking for:

Or using the search tool to find anything according to not just the product or brand name, but features, design aspects, price, and lots more. Seriously, you can put in anything and it’s fast! Maybe you’re looking for an integrated amp, you want to spend up to $20,000, and you absolutely want it to be class AB. Boom, 251 results:

Already under each product a quick glance at what people are reporting about this product in reviews (sourced from over 20,000 product reviews!), including what other products it competes with, considerations, and a list of key features (including some stuff that isn’t on the manufacturer’s site), but clicking through to the full page you get a whole lot more:

You’ll get all the specs, info about the brand, key takeaways from reviews of that product including reviews in magazines, forums, and videos as well as links to all the reviews of that product, plus you can immediately see where that product can be bought, the average used price; sourced from over 800 dealers and sites!! Not just ebay!
And if you do fancy buying one, you can click straight through to see that used listing:

Further down, you can quickly see info on some recommended products that either compete at the same price (data driven from common comparisons mentioned in reviews), and upgrade options for a bit more money with the site only serving up options that share similar features and are commonly recommended as upgrades to what you were originally looking at, again with a quick view of key points of those products at a glance:

You can also find comprehensive info on over 800 dealers across the US and UK, including up to date info on their used listings and brands they carry:

There is a crazy amount of data that has been put together to make this whole site work, and an even crazier amount of smart programming to make sure that data is accurate, comprehensive, helpful, and takes away just about all the initial hassle of trying to work out what on earth you should even be considering buying in the first place.
It’s only going to get better as time goes on and the data we have is expanded and improved. Please do go check it out! And if you find anything that doesn’t seem right, you can use the contact button in the top navbar to let us know.
Very cool!
